Chairman’s Report 2007

Birdham Parish Council

Chairman’s Report to the Annual Parish Meeting

April 16th 2007

In the past year the Council has met eleven times. I would like to repeat my thanks of previous years to all members of the Council and to the Clerk for their attendance at meetings and discussions on behalf of the Council as well as their valuable advice in the monthly Council meetings and in reading and reporting on documents where a view on behalf of the village was asked for. We continue to seek ways to cut down on the number of outside consultative meetings that we are asked to attend but the Parish is at present one of the most consistently represented at those meetings. Chairman's Report to the Annual Parish Meeting

April 18th 2005

In the past year the Council has met eleven times. My thanks are due to all members of the Council and to the Clerk for their attendance at meetings and discussions on behalf of the Council as well as their valuable advice in the monthly Council meetings and in reading and reporting on documents where a view on behalf of the village was asked for. The Council welcomes the opportunity to comment on matters which will affect the village but the volume of consultative documents is an increasing burden to small Councils like ours, and to their clerks. We are actively seeking ways of maintaining the consultation without increasing the number of meetings and documents, especially where several of these cover much of the same ground. (more…)

Chairman's Report to the Annual Parish Meeting

April 19th 2004

In the past year the Council has met eleven times. My thanks are due to all members of the Council for their attendance at meetings on behalf of the Council as well as their valuable advice in decision-making. During the year we have been joined by Councillors Emma Baillieu and Gordon Churchill. We are also grateful to our paid employees, Betty Geary, Adrian Dover and John Talbot, and particularly to our Clerk, Saskia Heasman, who has also become the Clerk to the Councils at West Itchenor and Appledram. Chairman’s Report to the Annual Parish Meeting

Birdham Parish Council

April 14th 2003

In the past year the Council has met eleven times. I would like to pay tribute to all the Councillors for the time and effort they have put in to a genuinely collaborative Council, dedicated to the best interests of the people of Birdham. During the year we have been joined by Councillor Martin Kyte. Councillor Clive Loseby had to resign from the Council because of pressure of work. We shall always be grateful for the enthusiasm that he brought to the Council, particularly in connection with the Millennium Fête. At the end of this Council we shall also be losing Councillor Philippa Woodruff and will miss her expertise in so many areas: playgrounds, the environment and the workings of local government particularly in the field of planning, to name but some. My thanks are due to all members of the Council for their attendance at meetings on behalf of the Council as well as their valuable advice in decision-making. There will not be an election for the new Parish Council on May1st but we shall have a full Council next year. We are also grateful to our paid employees, Betty Geary, Adrian Dover and John Talbot, and particularly to our Clerk, Saskia Heasman. (more…)

Chairman’s Report to the Annual Parish Meeting

Birdham Parish Council

April 15th 2002

In the past year the Council has met eleven times. I would again like to pay tribute to all the Councillors for the time and effort they have put in to a genuinely collaborative Council, dedicated to the best interests of the people of Birdham. During the year we have been joined by Councillor Rachel Huskisson, who has brought particular professional expertise to the Council in the field of water ecology, Councillor Alan Drew, who has provided a valuable link with the Parochial Church Council as a Churchwarden, and Councillor Colin Robinson, who has unfortunately been forced to withdraw because of ill-health. We send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery. My thanks are due to all members of the Council for their attendance at meetings on behalf of the Council as well as their valuable advice in decision-making. We are also grateful to our paid employees, Betty Geary, Adrian Dover and John Talbot, and particularly to our Clerk, Saskia Heasman. (more…)

Chairman's Report April 2001

Chairman’s Report to the Annual Parish Meeting

April 9th 2001

In the past year the Council has met twelve times. At the Annual Meeting of the Council in May 2000, Mrs Rosie Fanshawe informed the Council of her resignation from the Chair and from the Council with immediate effect. The Council wishes to place on record its thanks to Mrs Fanshawe for the work that she did during her time on the Council and especially for the two years as its Chair. We were also sorry to lose Mrs Glenna Frost as our Clerk. Her place was taken by Mrs Nicky Harding who resigned later in the year for personal reasons and was succeeded by Mrs Saskia Heasman.
